In under one hour, we transformed the bustling Natural History Museum in central London into a spectacular wedding venue. My wonderful clients wanted to steer clear from a traditional wedding but instead throw a completely unique, utterly fabulous and memorable celebration. And that’s exactly what we did!
Guests arrived through the ornate maroon and gold gates at the front of the Museum. The grand staircase, lined with white carpet, led them up to the Museum’s main entrance where they were greeted by the happy couple’s parents. When booking this venue, you can even customise the colour of the light wash on the facade of the building! Once inside, they mingled and sipped champagne in Fossil Way, whilst surrounded by ancient dinosaur relics. Our chosen caterer for the event, By Word of Mouth, were outstanding throughout the entire process. We could not have been happier with the food, drinks and service. Their canapés and cocktails which welcomed the guests were delicious, a taste of what was to come for the rest of the evening. The moment that my clients decided to book the Museum for their wedding day, was when, during our initial site visit, they were led from Fossil Way into the grand Hintze Hall. As soon as they entered they knew it was the perfect venue for their wedding! The room is exquisite due to the stunning architecture and, with its sweeping staircase and the magnificent blue whale skeleton which hangs from the ceiling, is truly unique. Unsurprisingly, guests were also amazed as they entered the dining hall, and every single person pulled out their cameras and phones to capture it. We swiftly gathered guests at the bottom of the staircase and lined up the gorgeous groomsmen and bridesmaids. The groom made his way up the stairs (dancing!) ready to welcome his stunningly beautiful bride. It was an absolute highlight of the evening and a very special moment.
“WE CAN’T THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR PULLING OFF THE MOST SPECTACULAR, STRESS FREE, SMOOTH AND SEXY WEDDING EVER! EVERYONE IS SINGING YOUR PRAISES AND WE ARE SO GRATEFUL. THANK YOU FOR BEING THE MOST AMAZING FRIEND AND WEDDING PLANNER EVER. A MILLION THANK YOUS!”
The wedding was expertly produced by Event Concept, with luscious flowers by their partner Veevers Carter. My favourite installation was the beautiful floral photo wall that we constructed in the ladies loo. The ladies took their selfies in the mirror adorned by flowers. A highlight of any wedding is the speeches, and this event was certainly no exception. The bridesmaids surprised the couple with a performance by Aladdin and Jasmine from the West End. The bride is a huge fan and she was moved to tears as soon as they began to sing her favourite childhood songs. Guests partied until the early hours and to ensure that they were kept fed and happy, we offered an abundant taqueria bar. Live stations had chefs preparing char-grilled chicken and slow-roasted pork, along with a buffet of accompaniments of tortillas, Monterey Jack cheese, Jalapenos, soured cream, coriander, lettuce, salsa, Pico de Gallo, Poblano and nachos! Guests created their own mini tacos or delicious plate of nachos. It was a wonderful hit and fabulously prepared by By Word of Mouth.
This event took almost a year to plan and design. I could not be more grateful to my clients for trusting me with their wedding day. It was an absolute honour and pleasure, and I wish we could go back and relive the night all over again! What an incredible memory it was for the new Mr & Mrs Zand of the celebration of their marriage in this iconic venue surrounded by their friends and family.
