For almost a year, I had the privilege and pleasure of working on a fun-filled, English countryside wedding. It was more than worth the wait!
“YOU WERE TRULY AMAZING AND WE APPRECIATE EVERYTHING SO VERY MUCH. WE COULDN’T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU. YOUR ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND DESIGN IS INCREDIBLE. YOU ARE TRULY TALENTED AT WHAT YOU DO AND WE WERE SO LUCKY TO HAVE YOU. WE REALLY HAD THE BEST DAY OF OUR LIVES.”
As founders of the sail cloth marquee company, Sail & Peg, the happy couple began their wedding weekend setting up the beautiful tent used to host their 200 guests for dinner and dancing. The centre kingpoles were adorned with flower rings, matching the tall centrepieces on long tables. The floristry spec included some of my personal summer favourites; blush pink roses, white peonies and plenty of lush foliage. All by superb florists Blooming Perfect.
The couple were particularly focused on the music at their wedding. They requested live music throughout their entire day, from the ceremony to the cocktail, during dinner, after dinner, and until the early hours of Sunday morning. We prompted every speech with a roaring introduction by the 20 piece band bringing guests to their feet in applause before the jokes had even started.
My favourite moment of the day came early on, when I realised that I was the only person to see both the bride and groom on the morning of their wedding day. I asked the groom how he was feeling and if he had any message that he’d like me to pass on to his future wife. Then I returned to the bride, moments before she stepped into her wedding dress, and relayed his message, she was almost brought to tears by his words. I have a very special job and that memory is an absolute highlight for me!
